Creativity

Where does it come from? More importantly, where does it go when we need it most?

Sometimes, it flows like water. Other times, it’s like squeezing water from stones. Either way, deadlines and budgets don’t change.

Creativity for the sake of being creative is a dead-end road that people will only travel down once. But when ideas compel someone to follow along, they get noticed.

Before we write content or code. Before we dive into design. Heck, before wireframes. There must be ideas. Ideas are the fuel for it all. And creativity is the spark.

Here we share everything from inspiration to methods that we, and others, have found successful in the quest for creativity. We’d love to hear what you have to say on the subject. Just be sure to leave your comments in the form of a haiku. Or prose. Or a rhyming couplet, those are nice.

Godin defines art as "a personal gift that changes the recipient. The medium doesn't matter. The intent does. Art is a personal act of courage, something one human does that creates change in another..." And, he dedicates an entire chapter to the "powerful culture of gifts." It was…

So what is NewCity Labs?

Our bread and butter are following through on ideas; making "What if we could...?" into something real. We do it for our clients every day. Most good ideas happen through bad ideas or the need to make our lives a little easier.  NewCity Labs is about seeing good ideas come to light and learning through exploration. Everyone has ideas, they come to us usually when we aren't trying to have them – in the shower, in line at Starbucks, pumping gas. What we seldom do is push them to the next step…
