Photoshop Tip: Kuler and CS4

I use Kuler all the time to explore color themes for comps and in developing branded colors for clients.  Getting those colors into Photoshop or Flash has always been a clunky export then import kind of process.  Come to find out that Kuler has a direct extension window within these CS4 applications.  Kind of makes sense, but a lot of designers overlook it or simply don't know its there and it can be extremely helpful.

So what is NewCity Labs?

Our bread and butter are following through on ideas; making "What if we could...?" into something real. We do it for our clients every day. Most good ideas happen through bad ideas or the need to make our lives a little easier.  NewCity Labs is about seeing good ideas come to light and learning through exploration. Everyone has ideas, they come to us usually when we aren't trying to have them – in the shower, in line at Starbucks, pumping gas. What we seldom do is push them to the next step (which is sometimes the garbage) – or follow a tangent concept that comes from that initial thought.

I'm pretty sure Dave and I will make the trip over annually. Will we go in an RV? Ask me next February, because only the reward of seeing my family again is getting me back into this thing after each gas/food stop. I think it is a great way to travel, and a really cost effective…

Trust

Back when I was in art school, (how long ago will remain a mystery) I worked in the wonderful world of customer service. Both as a front end manager at a grocery chain and at the front desk of a high end hotel.

I hated both jobs, at first.

I was not much of a people person at the time – I detested the constant drove of mundane problems. Like dealing with the devastated soccer mom who couldn't find some Oprah recommended jar of overpriced peanut butter or the jack stick who thought he was the…

We couldn’t be happier with how things have turned out. I really think this piece will define the school in a whole new way - a very positive and dynamic way.  I’ve already started hearing some really good things back from folks and I’m sure that’s only the beginning.
