Designing a new digital home for the Blue Ridge National Heritage Area

We have been to some pretty amazing places in our work with our clients- London, California, Kiawah Island, New York, Jamestown, Utah, Arizona, Maryland, Washington, DC.

When we begin our work with a new client, the road trip is always something we look forward to- everyone finally gets to meet everyone! We're putting names with the faces and hearing your stories and hanging out together and going through tons and tons of Post-It Notes together…

One of our recent road trips took us down a pretty amazing road- the Blue Ridge Parkway – to the home of the Blue Ridge National Heritage Area. Located in beautiful Asheville, North Carolina, the Blue Ridge National Heritage Area was designated by Congress and the President in November, 2003 in recognition of the unique character, culture, and natural beauty of Western North Carolina and their significance to the history of our nation.

The Blue Ridge Mountains, at over 1 billion years old, are some of the oldest mountains on Earth. The Blue Ridge National Heritage area of Western North Carolina is the birthplace of the Cherokee nation as well as the rich stringed-musical tradition of the Appalachias. Currently home to over 4,000 working craftspeople, the area has also become the center of handmade arts and crafts in America.

We've been tasked with creating a new online presence for this incredibly rich and diverse area. In our work with the Heritage Area we'll be creating a web site that promotes the area's unique natural, historical, and cultural resources. We love having such beautiful design assets to work with, so we're looking forward to creating a little bit of heaven on Earth on the web.

We'll be sure to keep you updated on our progress and in the meantime, if you feel like taking a little drive one day…
