Marilyn Myers, Controller

It might not seem obvious to the outside observer, but in Marilyn’s youth she taunted her family's farm animals: she applied lipstick on ducks' bills, coated the cat with aluminum paint and aimed to pelt birds with a BB gun. These days, Marilyn is known more for her compassionate, conscientious manner than for her antics with animals. She and her husband Tim have three sons, and Marilyn cooks, cleans and brings home some of the Myers' bacon with a sweet smile and sparkling blue eyes. Here at NewCity, Marilyn handles the money – a very important job, for obvious reasons. Calling on eight years of banking experience, Marilyn directs NewCity's Accounts Payable and Receivable. She also handles a lot of the daily details we creative, dreamy people seem to overlook way too often, and we love that about her. Though she is a VCU French education graduate, Marilyn never taught French. Before we snagged her to work here, she worked at various banks, a travel agency, and toyed with getting her MBA. When she's not clicking on her adding machine, she and her hubby like to ride their tandem bicycle. They've got lots of pets – all of which were acquired from the Humane Society or rescued from the mean streets of Blacksburg – but no farm animals.
